Cardinals Trade Partner: Washington Nationals

The Juan Soto sweepstakes is in full swing, and we covered the report from Jeff Jones that Nolan Gorman is included in trade talks for the superstar this week.

It is easy to see why the Nationals would want to acquire Gorman in a deal for their generational right fielder. Gorman would provide the Nationals with a young, left-handed power bat in their infield to replace some of the production of their power-hitting lefty, while also rebuilding their farm system for the future.

Gorman may be the centerpiece of these talks, but as fans know, it will likely require other highly-valued assets St. Louis has, like Dylan Carlson, Maysn Winn, or others. This would be a high price to pay, but the club would acquire a future Hall of Fame hitter for at least the next three postseason runs.

Like with all of these talks, it is likely that Gorman’s name is being floated around by other teams due to his immense potential, and in talks for a guy like Soto, it would make sense why St. Louis is willing to part with him.
