The St. Louis Cardinals will travel to Memphis on March 30 to take on the Memphis Redbirds in what is their annual “Battle of the Birds.” GM Mozeliak headlines this year’s contest and will speak to certain ticketed guests.

I love the “Battle of the Birds” in Memphis. I love when the St. Louis Cardinals finalize their spring training by traveling to their triple-A affiliate to play one final exhibition game to kick-start the season. This year’s “Battle of the Birds” is getting one more incentive for fans to attend: GM John Mozeliak.

The Memphis Redbirds and the St. Louis Cardinals jointly announced today that GM Mozeliak will speak to all ticketed guests within the Redbirds Club level at AutoZone Park next Thursday night. This special talk and Q&A sessions comes at no additional charge to fans purchasing this level of ticket for this exhibition contest.

As many of my readers know, I cover the Memphis Redbirds for us here at Redbird Rants and have been in attendance for several of Mozeliak’s talks. I like to hear him but am also honest about how skilled he is at double-speak (or political speak or any other “also known as” for his way of not sharing too much).

Will I attend his talk? Sure will. Will I believe every word that comes out of his mouth? Sure will not. I do find it interesting each time he talks, however, to note which topics are discussed. Often one can glean some insight into things that are in the works but to which Mozeliak is not yet prepared to share all information.

Additionally, Mozeliak is great at “dribbling out” information to entice reaction from other teams. I find him to be highly adroit at this tactic. This is one of those scavenger items that entice me to attend each of his talks.

More from St Louis Cardinals Prospects

As though the Mozeliak talk and the exhibition game between the Memphis Redbirds and the St. Louis Cardinals were not enough, Redbird Club tickets include a two-hour all-you-can-eat buffet, draft beer, house wine, Coca-Cola products, as well as access to pool tables, couches, and televisions. This is truly a unique and enjoyable place to take in the game.

So what does it all cost, you might ask? All food and beverages listed above are included in the ticket cost, which is $75 per person for the exhibition game and pregame talk with Mozeliak. $75 is a great deal for the package and is one of which fans should take advantage.

Mozeliak’s talk is slated to begin at 6:00pm CST on March 30 immediately following the St. Louis Cardinals’ batting practice. The exhibition game is set to begin at 7:05pm CST.

Following the “Battle of the Birds,” the St. Louis Cardinals will travel home to prepare to face their arch rivals, the Chicago Cubs, on Opening Night of April 2, 2017. Following the “Battle of the Birds,” the Memphis Redbirds will not appear at home again until their home opener which is scheduled for April 11, 2017 facing Colorado Springs.

Here’s your chance to get involved in case you cannot attend this event: send me any questions you would like asked to Mozeliak at my twitter account and I’ll be sure to try to squeeze them in either before the Q&A, during the Q&A, or after the Q&A.

Next: Goodbye to Pham and Martinez?

Are you able to attend this exhibition game? Will you take advantage of the Mozeliak special? If you are near enough to Memphis to make this game, I encourage that you do so. True, the regulars might not play too many innings but the opportunity to see them- and see the renewed AutoZone Park- is well worth it! Go Cardinals (and Redbirds)!
