Marco Gonzales and Tim Cooney headline a Memphis rotation that also includes Tyler Lyons, John Gast and Zach Petrick. Gonzales might be starting the season with the Memphis Redbirds but by the All-Star break, I expect he will be with the Cardinals for good. Gonzales and Cooney will ultimately battle each other for the right to take over John Lackey‘s spot in the rotation for the 2016 season.

Head over to Springfield to catch outfielder Charlie Tilson in action.

The Palm Beach Cardinals will see a lot of young talent to start the season, including top prospects Alex Reyes, Rob Kaminsky, and Carson Kelly. Kelly is in his second season of being groomed as a catcher in the organization. The Cardinals are planning for him to ultimately replace Yadier Molina behind the plate in a few seasons from now.

You’ll find pitcher Jack Flaherty and outfielder Magneuris Sierra amongst those players that will be playing for the Peoria Chiefs to start the season. Sierra, the Minor League Player of the Year in 2014, is going to be a player that many fans in Cardinal Nation will be keeping their eye on this season.

The short-season teams such as the Johnson Cardinals and State College Spikes will not open their seasons until after this summer’s annual MLB Draft.
