The Cardinals had been previously selected to kick off the 2015 baseball season on Opening Night when they take on the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on April 5, 2015.

It was announced today that the Cardinals game against the Cincinnati Reds on April 19, 2015 has been selected up for the Sunday night telecast. This will serve as the last game of the Cardinals opening home-stand and the club will have the day off on the following Monday. With three Sunday night games last May, manager Mike Matheny was not all that fond of having to play that many games on Sunday night on getaway days.

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox rivalry games, naturally, have been picked up by ESPN to air on April 12 and May 3. The Yankees game against the New York Mets was selected for April 26. With three Yankees games getting a national audience over three of the first five Sundays, it’s refreshing to see that the Cardinals are in there with two games.

Lead broadcaster Dan Shulman is returning for his fifth season as the voice of Sunday Night Baseball. The Canadian native will be joined by returning analysts Curt Schilling and John Kruk and reporter Buster Olney, who is also entering his fifth season on the Sunday telecast.

This will be the 18th baseball season for ESPN Radio as they continue their coverage as the exclusive, national radio home of Sunday Night Baseball. Play-by-play broadcaster Jon Sciambi and analyst Chris Singleton are returning for their fifth season together calling Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN Radio. ESPN Radio’s weekly coverage starts at 7 p.m. ET and is also available to listen to on ESPNRadio.com and via the ESPNRadio app.
