Nothing Ever Comes Easy For The 2014 St. Louis Cardinals

The normal oddities for the 2014 edition of the St. Louis Cardinals reared their ugly heads Saturday for the team, who proved once again, nothing is never easy for them.

Stealing signs or not…

Yes. It’s hard to believe MLB broadcaster Harold Reynolds mentioned that for a second game. Sign stealing? Really. He made it sound like a sin akin to cheating. Well. Picking up on pitchers giving themselves away is part of the game. Always has been. Is Harold saying he never did anything like that when he played? … Eh! Probably didn’t. Look at his stats! Especially the caught stealing numbers. Goodness! Anyway. It’s not a new concept, Harold. Drop it. It’s part of the game.

Now. Back to the Cardinals.

More from St Louis Cardinals News

The series is all tied up as they bring it back to St. Louis where fans are a little more appreciative of Cardinal red and playing the game the right way.

About Saturday’s game …

Lance Lynn. He actually did really well. He only gave up seven hits and two earned runs in six innings. And, he struck out eight. Awesome for him!  Marco Gonzales pitched for one inning and struck out two. Pat Neshek gave up the game winning run in his lone inning of work. What has happened to Pat Neshek? I miss awesome Pat Neshek. I hope he shows up in St. Louis.

With the exception of Neshek, the pitching did it’s job, though.

The hitting, once again, didn’t.

It’s quite frustrating to see a team full of great hitters seem flat and or gotten the best of during important games. I wish there was a cure all or someone they could insert in the lineup and guarantee an offensive explosion. But this is baseball and things never work that easy.

Matt Carpenter came up big, though. Hitting a game-tying two run homer off J.P. Howell in the eighth inning. Check out his bomb, right here!

So far, Matt Carpenter has been the most valuable player in this NLDS for the Cards. It just seems to be his thing to come up big when the team needs some one to step up. Hopefully he and maybe one or two others come up that big and more.

The fans will be extra loud and appreciative.

I am certain of it!
