Cardinals Fan Problems: Rooting for the Chicago Cubs in September

With the St. Louis Cardinals losing three straight games to the Cincinnati Reds, it became essential to root for the Chicago Cubs this weekend.

This is always the hardest thing that comes with being a St. Louis Cardinals fan during the month of September. Cardinals fans saw it already when the Milwaukee Brewers were self-imploding in the past few weeks. Call it a Cardinals Fan Problem but it is what it is.

It’s not always an easy thing to do but when the Cards are up by less than five games in the National League Central, every Cards win and opponent loss counts. Just as it was important that the Cubs defeated the Pirates on Saturday, the same is important today.

It’s not just the Cubs but with the Brewers still five games back in the National League Central, the Cincinnati Reds need to win today, too. The Reds are three games away from being eliminated from postseason contention but many of their fans eliminated the team in August, if not the end of July.

When it comes to the Brewers, the Cardinals fan help themselves during the upcoming week. After an off day on Monday, the Cards host the Brewers for three games.

Pittsburgh has an off-day on Monday followed by three games each against the Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, and Cincinnati Reds. The Pirates play four games against the Atlanta Braves. When it comes to the Brewers-Pirates series, the best thing to do, right now, is hope for a series split or sweep in Milwaukee’s favor.
