The 2014 season marks the 50th anniversary of the 1964 win. Those being honored include Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Dick Groat, Tim McCarver, Mike Shannon, Bob Uecker, Charlie James and coach Red Schoendienst.

Gibson and Brock were inducted into the Hall of Fame on their first ballot in 1981 and 1985, respectively. Schoendienst joined them when the Veterans Committee elected him in 1989. Uecker joined the broadcaster’s wing in 2003 while McCarver did so in 2012. Groat is currently serving as a commentator on radio broadcasts for the Pittsburgh Panthers men’s basketball team.

When the St. Louis BBWAA dinner is held at the Renaissance Grand Hotel at 6:30 PM on January 19th, three members of the 2013 National League pennant winners will be on hand to accept the St. Louis Baseball Man of the Year award: Matt Carpenter, Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina. Their fellow 2013 NL champions will be amongst the featured honorees during the evening: Allen Craig, Matt Holliday, Shelby Miller, Michael Wacha, Trevor Rosenthal, manager Mike Matheny and general manager John Mozeliak.

Jason Motte will be honored by receiving the Darryl Kile Award. This award was voted on by Cardinals players.

Hall of Fame manager Tony LaRussa and retired pitcher Chris Carpenter are also being honored by the STL BBWAA chapter.

John Rooney will serve as the MC for the night.

Tickets are $150 apiece or $175 (when purchased with WWU pass).
