The St. Louis Cardinals have made some changes with their minor league system. One such change was due to Brent Strom departing his role as the Cardinals Minor League Pitching Coordinator to take a position with the Houston Astros. Replacing Strom in the position is Tim Leveque, who previously served as Mechanics Analyst/Rehab Pitching Coordinator this past season.

There aren’t that many major changes taking place with the 2014 minor league field staffs, player development & scouting department promotions. Amongst the eight minor league clubs, three will see new managers as Dann Bilardello will move from the Midwest League affiliate Peoria to the Florida State League affiliate in Palm Beach. Joe Kruzel will move from Appalachian League entry Johnson City to Peoria. Finally, Johnny Rodriguez will go from Palm Beach to Johnson City.

Ron “Pop” Warner, Mike Shildt, Oliver Marmol, Steve Turco and Fray Peniche will all return to their managerial positions from this past season.

In addition to Leveque’s promotion, Johnson City pitching coach Paul Davis will also be taking on the role of Minor League Pitching Coach/Coordinator of Pitching Analytics.

Except for the dual role being served by Davis, all hitting and pitching coaches will return to their same position for the upcoming season.
