PostCards: NLCS Game 3 – St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Just about to get under way in Hollywood land for game 3 of the 2013 NLCS where the St. Louis Cardinals are trying to put a strangle hold on this series with a 3-0 lead.

The Cardinals send their staff ace, Adam Wainwright to the mound to take on a rookie in Hyun-Jin Ryu.  Sounds familiar right?  The first two games was the Dodgers sending their Cy Young winners against two Cardinal rookies and we know how that turned out.  So the Redbirds are taking nothing for granted and realize they need to wake up their bats and score some runs.

Hanley Rameriez and Andre Ethier are both in the starting lineup today after missing game 2 with injuries.  Rameriez has a fractured rib, but took batting practice today and looked good.  Ethier has been dealing with shin issues and is going to give it a go in center field.

Facing a left hander tonight Mike Matheny has gone with Matt Adams in the sixth hole and starting Pete Kozma at shortstop.

If game three is anything like the first two, tonight is going to be hours of drama and fun for everyone.  Stop on by to chat with us as we root on the Redbirds!

    Let’s go Cards!

  • Mike King

Great opportunity for Matt here to get us going!

  • Daniel Solzman

That strike to Molina could have been a ball.

    • Mike King

Strike two was also questionable high. So he called one high and one low. As long as he give Waino that big of strike zone as well I am fine with it.

  • Daniel Solzman

Miscommunication on that fly ball. Looks like Carp lost it in the sky.

    • Mike King

Carp is just struggling both offensively and defensively. Other than that he is playing really well….

      • Daniel Solzman

Got out of that jam just fine!

  • Daniel Solzman

Cards have got to start hitting the ball. Through 1.5 innings…

  • Daniel Solzman

Fun fact: St. Louis is 7-4 in postseason games played on October 14 including the 1985 NLCS Game 5 win.

  • Daniel Solzman

    Sit down, Puig.

  • Daniel Solzman

    1-2-3 in the bottom 2nd.

    • Mike King

Waino settling in, got to love the looks of that.

  • Daniel Solzman

Ump is really calling these corner strikes.

  • @RPKraemer

Workman-like performance so far. Really need to rattle the bats.

  • Daniel Solzman

Yadi made some good contact but it found a glove.

  • Daniel Solzman

How do Jay and Beltran not call for that?

  • Daniel Solzman

That will make for an interesting postgame media session. Runner scores but should have been out had Jay and Beltran communicated on the previous play.

    • Mike King

Poor defense by Redbirds this game. Jay involved on both of plays. Not good for your CF.

  • Mike King

I drill him next time up!

  • Daniel Solzman

Cards get out of the jam but not before 2 runs score–mostly due to miscommunication

  • Daniel Solzman

Puig dives and can’t make the play. No hitter is over.

  • Mike King

I cannot wait for Jhonny Peralta to be on this team next year and I don’t have to see Kozma and DD on a regular basis.

  • Daniel Solzman

    Free Shane Robinson?

    • Mike King

I don’t get it with facing the lefty as well.

  • Daniel Solzman

    Stretchtime.

  • Daniel Solzman

7 of 11 strikeouts tonight have been looking.
