Cardinals at Brewers, Game 154 Thread

Scott Rovak-USA TODAY Sports

It’s time for another game thread!

Last night’s loss was rough. Blowing a 1-run lead twice in a game and losing in extra innings always hurts, but we have to move on. The positive takeaway was the fact that we still took 2 of the 4 games in Colorado (which is what I predicted!).

Tonight, the Cardinals move on to Milwaukee to take on Johnny Hellweg and the Brewers. The young right-hander is 1-4 with an 8.31 ERA in 5 starts this season. He has never faced the Cardinals, which may not bode well for St. Louis, as they have not fared well against new pitchers.

On the mound for the Redbirds is Shelby Miller, who has been on the upswing after a couple of rough starts. His biggest problem remains efficiency, and he needs to focus on pitching deeper into games.

Ideally, the Cardinals will turn around their bad habit of hitting poorly against bad pitchers they’ve never seen before, and Shelby can shut down the Brewers for 7 innings.

But there’s more good news! Matt Adams must be feeling better, because he’s starting at first base tonight. Perhaps his bat can spark the offense.

Both of the Cardinals’ rivals play each other tonight as the Reds and the Pirates face off. Keep your eye on that game going forward, either way, it’ll be important to the future for the Cardinals.

Now let’s go St. Louis!

Lead off walk to Carpenter! Now let’s go get at him!

  • Ovadia

    Beltran moves Carp to second.

  • Ovadia

And there’s the first Cardinal run! Sadly, Holliday thrown out trying to get to second.

  • Ovadia

There we go! Adams on first!

  • Ovadia

End of the inning, Cards up 1-0!

  • Ovadia

Aoki hits one up the middle.

  • Ovadia

    First and second, on out.

  • Ovadia

Miller gives up a three run bomb to Ramirez, 3-1 Brewers.

  • Ovadia

Jay did his best, but he’s out at second again..

  • Ovadia

    Two outs.

  • Ovadia

    Let’s try this again.

  • Ovadia

    Carp gets a hit!

  • Ovadia

    GIDP.

  • Ovadia

Holliday on base again. Man has he been hot.

  • Ovadia

And that’s the end of that.

  • Ovadia

    Aoki on again.

  • Ovadia

Shelby out of that inning with no damage. Let’s go offense!

  • Ovadia

    Yadi on base.

  • Ovadia

Jay walks, two on, no out! I like the looks of this inning!

  • Ovadia

    GIDP. Ugly.

  • Ovadia

Out of the inning without a run. That hurts.

  • Ovadia

    Holliday can field, too.

  • Ovadia

    Shelby’s on base! HBP.

  • Ovadia

Walk to Beltran, two on and one out.

  • Ovadia

Holliday gets another hit, 3-2 Cards, runners on first and third for Adams.

  • Ovadia

    Load ‘em up for Yadi!

  • Ovadia

GIDP. I’m sick of typing that.

  • Ovadia

Here we go. Two on, no outs for Miller. Not quite ideal.

  • Ovadia

4-2 Milwaukee on Aramis’ sac fly.

  • Ovadia

On to the seventh. Go Cards!

  • Ovadia

Beltran hit the ball! 4-3 as Carp scores!

  • Ovadia

    Come on Holliday!

  • Ovadia

Reds are winning and Adams drives in the tying run!

  • Ovadia

And Yadi has a hit! Two on, two out. Come on JAY!

  • Ovadia

    Not quite.

  • Ovadia

Great throw by Beltran! That was a rocket!

  • Ovadia

Carp down on strikes . . . first and third with two down for Beltran. We need another hit, Carlos!

  • Ovadia

    And Carlos doesn’t get it done . . . stil 4-4.

  • Ovadia

Holliday walks, none out, runner on first.

  • Ovadia

Gone. Adams LAUNCHES that into the upper deck! Wow.

  • Ovadia

Cardinals have a 2 run lead.

  • Ovadia

Koz on first, Descalso at the plate.

  • Ovadia

    Three more outs.

  • Ovadia

I do not like lead off hits.

  • officecasualfan

Is it just me, or does anyone else tired of Dan screaming his head off on homerun calls. He sounds like a classless jerk. I thought it was considered bad form to cheer in the broadcast booth.

    • Ovadia

It’s not just him. It seems to be the new style. It doesn’t bother me that much. Thanks for stopping by!

      • officecasualfan

Okay. Enjoy the end of the game.

  • Ovadia

Come on Mook. We need something, not another hit. Not another loss.

  • Ovadia

Walked the bases loaded for Aramis Ramirez. And FINALLY Matheny is done.

  • Ovadia

    Come on John.

  • Ovadia

Strike on the outside corner! 1-1.
