Welcome to tonight’s game thread!

Tonight, the rarely seen Seattle Mariners come into town to take on the Cardinals! It should be a good series, and the M’s should be bad enough for the Cardinals to steam roll. So let’s take a look, shall we?

Adam Wainwright takes on Hisashi Iwakuma. With a 12-6 record and a 2.97 ERA, Iwakuma will be the biggest challenge that the Cardinals have in terms of pitching. He is certainly a formidable opponent, but bolstered by the bat of Yadier Molina (hooray! he’s back!), St. Louis have a good chance of taking him on.

Wainwright, after two very rough outings against the Reds, turned himself around against Pittsburgh in his last start, throwing 7 shutout innings and striking out 8. He seeks to continue his dominance against the Mariners, who have one of the worst offenses in all of baseball.

With the Pirates currently down 1-0 to the Cubs, hopefully the Cardinals can take this golden opportunity to retake sole possession of the lead in the NL Central. Either way, we’re set for another exciting series here in September!

Here we go Cardinals!
