Welcome to the game thread!

Tonight, the Cardinals put the finishing touches on a sweep of the Brewers and extend their winning streak to 6 games!

That’s right. I’m callin’ it.

That’s how much I believe in Joe Kelly. In his last couple of outings, Kelly has been trying to turn around a struggling rotation, and last Friday he did, kicking off the current 5-game winning streak. Tonight, I predict that he keeps the mojo flowin’.

He struggled against Milwaukee out of the bullpen, but the Brewers haven’t seen him as a starter this year, and a lot has changed since then. Since becoming a starter, he has gone 8-1 with a 2.06 ERA, and nothing has indicated that that’s going to change anytime soon.

On the mound against him is Tyler Thornburg. He’s only ever faced the Cardinals once, and gave up 2 solo home runs in 4.1 innings in a no-decision. He’s looked good as a starter this season, with a 1.13 ERA in four starts, but is only 0-1 in those starts and is only averaging 6 innings per start. So if the Cardinals’ offense can get Tyler out of the game early, then they shouldn’t have too many problems handling the bullpen.

In spite of the Cardinals recent tear, they haven’t put any ground between themselves and the Pirates, so finishing off the Brewers remains important. The team can’t relax now, there’s too much at stake.

Let’s go Cardinals! Sweep the Brew-crew right out of town!
