Brewers at Cardinals, Game 145 Thread

Welcome to tonight’s game thread!

The Cardinals now have a four game winning streak, and they’ve had four outstanding outings from their starting pitchers! (Remember how the rotation was falling apart about a week ago? Apparently it isn’t anymore).

Now last night was less fun, with the offense failing to put up double digits and Mujica giving up a two run shot in the ninth, but it still goes in the record books as a win, and I’ll take it.

That said, with the Reds’ win this afternoon, and the Pirates’ latest winning streak (three in a row, thanks to the incompetent Rangers), it’s absolutely necessary for the Cardinals to keep their own winning streak going. A loss tonight could result in yet another tie for first place with the obnoxious Bucs. And, call me mean-spirited, but I don’t like sharing.

Tonight is the most important start of the year for Lance Lynn. Though all of the professionals are somewhat hesitant to say so (for good reason, they aren’t supposed to say this stuff in public), Lynn is pitching for his job. If he can’t turn it around now, we’ll find someone who can — Jake Westbrook, Tyler Lyons, or Carlos Martinez, more than likely. That said, at times it is very clear that Lynn has the stuff necessary to get the job done and just psychs himself out. Hopefully he’ll get his head right and pitch the way we all know he can tonight.

Opposing Lynn is Marco Estrada. Much like Peralta last night, Estrada has struggled against the Cardinals this season, with a 8.14 ERA. Perhaps, however, those numbers will continue and the Cards won’t be no-hit through the first five innings.

Either way, we should be in for a good game tonight as Lynn fights for his life. Go Cardinals!
