Clydesdales, Musial tribute open home season for Cardinals

The Clydesdales were the opening act this afternoon as the St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Cincinnati Reds with a final score of 13-4. Mitchell Boggs allowed 7 earned runs as the Cardinals allowed 9 runs to score in the 9th inning.

Garcia matched a career high of ten strikeouts but aside from that, this game was messy.

The trivia question of the day is which is the last team to score 9 runs and then allow another team to score 9 runs on them the next day.

The Hall of Famers were on hand to open the home portion of the season as Red Schoendienst, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Bruce Sutter, Ozzie Smith, and Whitey Herzog were introduced before the introductions of coaching staff and team.

This was the first Opening Day not to feature the presence of Stan Musial in attendence but he was certainly there in spirit. There was a nice video tribute to The Man prior to his children unveiling a baseball with his jersey number and signature.
