Daily Rant: Cardinals complete sweep with 13-5 drubbing

The Cardinals took to Houston with the offensive fury that the numbers show they are capable of on Thursday night. They decimated the Astros to earn a season sweep and take some much-needed momentum into their three game showdown with the division leading Reds.

The Positives

Jon Jay hit 13th double of the year and a single. He scored three runs.
Allen Craig hit two singles and his 27th double to drive in three runs and score two of his own.
Matt Holliday hit a single and a double and drove in four runs. He is now tied with Ryan Braun and teammate Carlos Beltran for the RBI lead.
Yadier Molina hit a single and a double, driving in one run.
David Freese hit two singles and his 17th home run. He drove in four runs.
Rafael Furcal hit two singles and scored two runs.
Barrett Browning, Edward Mujica, Fernando Salas, and Marc Rzepczynski combined for four innings of scoreless ball.

Three Stars

I’m not going to force myself to find complaints in a landslide victory over a AA team so let’s jump right to the stars.

3) Allen Craig – Craig drove in three runs in a three hit performance.

2) Matt Holliday – Holliday only picked up two hits, but drove in four runs.

1) David Freese – Freese led the way with three hits, including a huge home run.
