Daily Rant: The Doctor operates on the Cardinals

With match-ups against Ryan Vogelsong, Madison Bumgarner, and Roy Halladay in their last three games, the Cardinals haven’t exactly had a favorable challenge. They struggled against the Cy Young winner and ended up losing 3-1.

The Positives

Jon Jay hit a single to continue his hitting streak.
Allen Craig hit his 22nd double of the season.
Carlos Beltran hit a solo shot and a single. The home run was his 28th of the season.
Kyle Lohse went seven strong innings. He only gave up one earned run and allowed six base runners.

Justin’s Jeers

Barrett Browning pitched the eighth and gave up a two-run home run that ended up being the winning run.
Matt Holliday, David Freese, Yadier Molina, Daniel Descalso, and Rafael Furcal were all stifled by the Phillies pitching staff.

Three Stars
