Today’s Game

The Cardinals host the Rockies for the fourth game in their four game series tonight at 7:15. The Cardinals lead the series 2-1 and have a chance to draw within 1.5 games of the division leading Pittsburgh Pirates. Two rookies square off tonight as Christian Friedrich and Lance Lynn take the mound. Friedrich is 4-5 with a 5.52 ERA. He hasn’t thrown a quality start since June 4th, but has a couple of solid five inning outings under his belt. He profiles as a Joe Kelly-type groundball pitcher. Lance Lynn is 10-4 with a 3.62 ERA, but is spiraling after three consecutive poor starts in which he hasn’t gotten out of the sixth inning. He has given up at least five runs in each of his last three outings.
