We are now two weeks into Spring Training with some of the decisions on who starts and who doesn’t being made by injuries instead of performance. Chris Carpenter is on the mend, working himself back from a bulging disk in his neck. Skip Schumaker just got removed from the second base competition because of a strained right oblique. However, the staff at Redbird Rants is strong and working ourselves into regular season form. Links to our work over the past week are after the break.

I wrote a letter to fans describing how these nagging injuries were hurting the players ability to get their reps in on the field. I also detailed how Lance Lynn would look if he had to start more games than he performed as a reliever.

Chris Ferguson wrote about Carpenter’s issue with his neck and how it will affect the team. He also took a look at the mental aspects Lynn is dealing with while making the transition to starter.

Marilyn Green put her touch on the initial feature of Redbirds Week in Review. The column will be a recap of each game from the previous week with commentary mixed in.

Justin McClary has begun a huge undertaking, giving our readers the chance to determine the greatest Cardinals’ team of all-time. He is using the March Madness moniker in this bracket style poll. He also recapped the positional battles continuing in Spring Training.

Dennis McHawes asked what we can expect from Mike Matheny now that we have seen him in the managerial spot for a few weeks. He continued his Who am I? Name that Cardinal series as well.

The site has added a “Features” tab on the home screen. You can now easily find an archive of our weekly features in one spot.
