Editor’s Letter: What to expect from Redbird Rants this season

Dear Readers,

Each week in this spot I will write a letter to you, the readers. This week since spring training has begun in earnest, I thought I would take the time to give you an idea of what you can expect each week from our staff for the rest of the season. There are changes to some of the weekly columns and I want to alert you to upcoming features the staff will be providing.

Each day, for as long as I am writing here, I will script Rants Daily. It will cover Cardinals’ news, game recaps and provide previews to games or upcoming series. There will be links to media coverage as well. Media Minutes will no longer be a part of the writing mix. The following is a daily breakdown. Each writer is linked to their author page so you can review the pieces they have written to date.

Monday

Beginning March 12, 2012, Marilyn Green and Jason Evans will take turns penning Cardinals Week in Review, which will detail the Cards’ previous week on the field. Dennis McHawes will enlighten us with his Cards’ commentary. On the first Monday of each month I will offer up the Cardinals Business Report which will detail business news surrounding the organization.

Tuesday

I’ll write the Editor’s Letter (this is the first installment). In future weeks this will be exactly what it states a letter to the readers about the Cardinals. Also, Justin McClary will offer his opinion on a Cards topic of his choice.

Wednesday

My weekly sabermetric perspective, The Numbers Game, will run along with a column from Chris Ferguson.

Thursday

Daniel Solzman and Jason will take the honors giving you their individual takes on the Redbirds. I will write my weekly piece for FanSided’s Call to the Pen (shameless plug).

Friday

Beyond Busch is moving from Saturdays to Fridays beginning this week. Beyond Busch is my weekly review of what’s happening with the Cardinals’ opponents in the NL Central and a collection of brief notes for all other MLB teams. Dennis provides us with his feature, Who am I? Name that Cardinal, where he digs up a name from the Cardinals past and gives you clues so you can try and figure out who he’s writing about.

Saturday

Justin’s Cardinals Minor League Report will settle into a weekly feature once he has completed his prospect reviews. In season, he will give a roundup of what is happening in the Cardinals’ farm system.

Sunday

Redbird Rants Recap will continue to provide you with links to each of the writers’ pieces from the previous week. Chris Ferguson will supply a narrative as well.

Of course, the staff will post on other days if they feel there is something noteworthy that they would like to share with you. We’ll do our best to keep the features on the days mentioned above. If a change is made we will try to alert you ahead of time. The staff at Redbird Rants wants to thank you for your continued viewership. We’re happy to discuss the Cardinals with you on a daily basis.
