For the second time in as many days, Albert goes yard for a walkoff blast capping the sweep of the rival Cubs.

Cardinals fans, our franchise symbol for the last decade looks to finally be digging his way back out of his funk. All of our social network sites (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) have begun to flood with an overwhelming response to SIGN ALBERT NOW!

Everyone back in “Baseball City USA” is beginning to flood with excitement around their first place club and their revamped slugger. On a day Holliday, Berkman, and mostly no Colby except for the bottom of the 9th and 10th, the Cardinals had a virtually slow day that looked to be moving in the favor of Big Z and the Cubs. At one point Carlos Zambrano was even named player of the game and all hope seemed to be lost.

We came into the Bottom of the 9th down 2-1 with Carlos Marmol on the mound, a man who hasn’t given up a run on the road in the last 25 and 1/2 innings. Yadier Molina kicks off the inning with a leadoff single right up the middle and is replaced by backup catcher Tony Cruz who is the new pinch runner. Daniel Descalso and PH Colby Rasmus come in to strike out in the next two spots to put us down to one out. Ryan Theriot was 0-4 on the day and looking to be the last out to end his 18 game hit streak. In a brilliant at bat, he drives the ball down the left field line and Tony Cruz takes the signal from a jovial Jose Oquendo to cross home to tie the game 2-2.

The Cubs kick off the inning and go down 1-2-3. The Bottom of the 10th begins and Albert leads off against the new pitcher Rodrigo Lopez and on the fourth pitch, this happens.
