Cardinals Look Ahead To Strong All Star Showing

The current rankings have Matt Holliday, Lance Berkman, and….Albert Pujols in the starting lineup with the voting results.

The first two are obvious no-brainers. Holliday and Berkman are having career seasons if only they can stay healthy. They have played hard this year and their spots in the July classic are well deserved. Currently they are second and third respectively to Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Albert Pujols is of course the questionable character.

Sure he may go down as one of the greatest players to ever take the field, but the All Star Game should be based more on a single seasons merit and not overall favor in the league. In saying that, Prince Fielder, Gaby Sanchez and (you know I hate to, but dare I say it) Joey Votto should be the leading votes at the moment, but who am I to condemn the ballot stuffing for Albert…he is the man. The official Cardinals website lists Albert as being 180,000 votes over second place Joey Votto, Prince and Ryan Howard are third and fourth.

Yadi is currently in third for catchers, but with the season ending injury to Buster Posey (my fantasy team is pissed) he now is only 38,000 votes behind the Braves Brian McCann for the starting slot.

The All Star Game will be hosted by the Diamondbacks July 12 in Phoenix and voting ends June 30. The Cardinals need your help!

Go to the All Star Ballot and continue to vote your favorite Cardinals in to the Summer Classic.
