In his first sit down with the media since his appendectomy Friday, Matt Holliday certainly seemed upbeat and even announced he was going to try to stay off the disabled list to have an opportunity to rejoin the team in as little as two weeks. This is a wonderful sign as he is fully confident he can come back quickly from this surgery, and the club is not looking to argue, they are giving him this opportunity because they feel he will be back to full strength in no time. This is terrific news for the Cardinal faithful as a confident, excited Matt Holliday can obviously be of tremendous value even while he is not exactly 100%

Nick Punto looks to finally join the Cardinals after his hernia surgery back in February. Punto is still yet to even take the field in a Cardinal uniform, but speculation is he could be back sooner than later after a Minor League rehab stint. As of now the Cardinals have been going between Descalso and Freese at third base and having Punto would just make the hot corner job that much harder to predict.
