Ozzie Smith talks 2010 Cards baseball

The Wizard sat down on 101ESPN with old friends and teammates Ricky Horton and John Mabry. The teammates reunited for a fun afternoon of baseball talk. After years together in St. Louis, times like these are rare and it’s always fun to see the boys back together again.

-Mabry thinks the team is pressing a little bit in the early going to win games and get big hits. Time and patience will solve everything by summer’s end. Ozzie echoed his thoughts and said it comes down to the basics. If they focus on hitting the ball back up the middle, the rest will fall in place. Rather than shooting for the long ball, a simple mindset is the best answer. Overall, baseball is a simple game that can get complicated real fast with some pressure. As I said, it’s great to see and hear some of the old players and legends like Ozzie Smith still have interest in the organization. The loyalty remains years after they hang ’em up.
