The Freak vs. The Machine: Tim Lincecum, Albert Pujols collide in San Fran

Tim Lincecum is arguably the best pitcher in baseball. He has won back-to-back Cy Young awards and is already on pace for his third this season. He is 3-0 with a .90 ERA. Lincecum is simply a freak of nature. His twisting windup still has opponents fooled and he’s enjoying it. The San Fran ace has a great personality and he has shown it in various press conferences and commercials. His most recent is playing now on ESPN. He tries to think of a proper message for his answering machine. Most in baseball would agree he is a dominant force on the mound.

Albert Pujols is the equivalent of Linceum in the batter’s box. He has won the past two MVPs just as Lincecum won the Cy Young awards. Throw in another MVP for a good measure and it’s easy to see his greatness. Pujols has many records at this point in his career and he is simply a hitting machine. He got off to a fast start this season and should have a typical year for the Redbirds. He is also a role model in the community with his family foundation improving others’ lives. Like Lincecum, most would agree Pujols is baseball’s best.

The Freak and The Machine collide tonight. The best vs. the best. Who will win the battle by the Bay? It’s a fun matchup that is quite a treat when it happens. Both have also done “This is SportsCenter” commercials. Whose is better?

This matchup should be fun to watch.
