I would say the Cabrera signing opens things up for St. Louis and really makes them the frontrunner. The Reds also expressed interest in Lopez, who was an all-star for Cincy in 2005. Now that they have made their move for Cabrera, I can't see Lopez going anywhere but St. Louis. It looks like it's just a matter of time before Felipe is a Redbird again.

The darkhorse that could jump in would be Colorado, but they appear to be out of the race and have set their sights on plan B, Melvin Mora.

Orlando Cabrerra just signed with Cincinnati about an hour ago - 1 year/$3 mil. What does that mean for us and Felipe?

All great points! Lopez is possibly the missing piece for the 2010 version of the Cardinals, taking the place of Mark DeRosa as the rock solid utility man that hits .300. This would be a great sign that would solidify St. Louis, which is the early favorite to take the division.
