So...
As much as I would love to see Rasmus get a chance to play this season, we have about oh, a million OF!! We need middle IF and pitching like there's no tomorrow!
I'm thinking he gets dealt along with a few others(Duncan, Barton, Ludwick...) for some top quality pitchers. I doubt this happens. My educated guess for what happens next season: NOTHING!
We have people to deal, yes, but we do not have a management/ownership team that "jumps the gun"
In some cases its good to sit back and wait to see what else is out there, but when you've got Jake freakin' Peavy sitting on your hook... reel him in!!!! Every year, I watch all these players become free agents and actually voice wanting to be on the Cardinals, and each year they go somewhere else. I for one am sick of it.
Bernie asked a great question, what will Cards fans do if Peavy ends up in the NL Central, and not on our team.... I'm pretty sure we'll all be irate! I'm already pretty "Peaved" we aren't in the race to get Jake. Unless I missed the memo of someone like C.C. Sebathia, Roy Halladay, Dan Haren, or even Josh Johnson being on our table, who better is coming our way?

I think you have to consider trading him in the right deal. I personally would be willing to include him in a deal for Peavy. He is still a prospect, we don't know what he will become. Maybe he will be great and we will regret the trade, or maybe he won't.

I remember when Corey Patterson was the "untouchable" 5-tool CF prospect in baseball. I'm ok taking the risk in trading him.

I guess my response didn\'t make the cut.

I am ok with trading an unproven player as far as never playing in the majors, if you get a definite proven, reliable major leaguer. As an example, if Rasmus is in a package that bring s a top caliber player like Hanley Ramirez, I am all for it. To include him for the lesser qualities, then I have reservations.
